About

Inner City Fire Protection, Inc. is a local Boston, MA minority owned and operated fire protection company that was established in 2012. Joel Williams, owner and president, has over 22 years of experience in the fire protection industry. Starting out in New York City as a young, fast-moving apprentice, he took the skills he learned on the road, traveling and working in Texas, Georgia, North and South Carolina, and New Jersey.

Mr. Williams has experienced all aspects of the industry: fitting pipe, attending welding school, local union #550 courses and schooling, along with NFPA design courses. After years of traveling and developing knowledge, he was ready to lead after learning from some of the best in the trade. In 1999 Joel became a journeyman sprinkler fitter. He soon after decided to settle in the greater Boston area in 2000.

Joel was always ready, willing, and able to become part of the union brotherhood. In 2004 the dream became his reality. Six years later, due to the building trades in Boston being slowed by hard times, he was laid off. After almost losing the home he built for his family, he had to leave the past behind and get something going fast. “When the going gets tough, only the tough get going.” Joel became a local contractor. Now the future looks bright and promising for Inner City Fire Protection.

From replacing a single fire sprinkler head to adding additional heads or changing all the heads, Inner City Fire Protection is the company to call.

We pride ourselves in our response to our customers’ needs. Whether it’s fixing a sprinkler system during the day or on an emergency basis, our staff is fully qualified to handle the problem.

Whether you have a wet, dry, preaction, or deluge system our personnel are capable of handling your needs. Our personnel are also certified in backflow testing as well as testing and repairs on fire pumps.

Response time for emergencies is 2 hours with 24-hour on-call service.
We’ll handle record keeping to ensure your company is notified when your fire sprinkler system, backflows, or fire extinguishers are due for testing.
Service radius up to 30 miles from our Boston office.

Inspection Frequency

Whether your system(s) need to be inspected annually, semi-annually, or quarterly, all inspections include:

Testing to ensure the system(s) are operational
Operational test of local alarms
Inspection of alarm and control valves
Verification that all areas of the building have adequate fire sprinkler coverage
Submission of documentation to you

Are your sprinkler fitters licensed and insured?

All of our sprinkler fitters are fully trained and licensed, in addition to being insured to keep your mind at ease.

What if I have an emergency during non-business hours?

We provide 24-hour service through our C.O.C. program.

What type of projects can you handle?

We have extensive experience with hospitals, manufacturing facilities, industrial sites, warehouses, prisons, office buildings, and schools/colleges, as well as all aspects of residential work. There is no job too big or too small.

What about safety procedures? Are your sprinkler fitters safety conscious?

We insist that all of our sprinkler fitters are OSHA trained and certified. We provide additional safety training on an ongoing basis. We take safety seriously.

Do you do fire pump tests?

Yes, we provide a full range of services, including fire pump tests.
